Table of contents
This version keeps the “Microsoft Fluent User Interface” and even enhances it. Unlike Microsoft Word 2007, the Ribbon is now customisable, i.e. you have control over your Ribbon and what items appear on its tabs, and you can even add tabs of your own and put your favourite commands on there. No more despair because a favourite command that was on an Microsoft Word 2003 menu can’t be found anywhere on the Ribbon.
The File menu (or tab) has been re-instated in a feature called "Backstage View". The Ribbon contains the set of commands for working IN a document, while the Microsoft Office Backstage view is the set of commands you use to do things TO a document.
The Backstage view is where you manage your documents and related data about them.
