Course Objectives

This course is designed for computer users with little or no previous experience of Lotus Notes.  Anyone who feels that they need to develop a better understanding of basic Lotus Notes concepts and capabilities will benefit from attending this course.  Some knowledge of computer basics and working with Windows is expected.  The topics covered on our "Introduction to Microsoft Windows" course are an adequate prerequisite for this course.

Who Should Attend?

This one day course aims to provide a working knowledge of the Lotus Notes environment. The three main topics covered on the course are 1) working with Lotus Notes databases including creating and editing documents, 2) creating, sending and managing Lotus Notes mail and 3) utilising the Calendar including group scheduling.

  • Examining Databases
  • Using the Help Database

Database Documents.

  • Creating a main topic document
  • Creating response documents
  • Editing documents
  • Marking and printing documents

Lotus Notes Mail.

  • Creating and sending messages
  • Addressing mail
  • Attaching files and saving drafts

Managing Mail.

  • Working with attachments
  • Managing mail
  • Working with mail folders
  • Deleting messages and folders

Utilising the Calendar.

  • Setting Calendar options
  • Creating Calendar entries
  • Modifying Calendar entries

Group Scheduling.

  • Examining meetings view.
  • Requesting a meeting.
  • Responding to meeting invitations.

Time permitting:

Named styles and links.

  • Using named styles.
  • Creating links.

Using Notes Remotely.

  • Working with location documents
  • Replicating Databases
  • Workstation-based mail
  • Address books
